You are never too old to grow, heal, and thrive.
Therapy for Seniors in Swartz Creek, Michigan
The golden years don’t always feel that way, do they?
You may be suddenly finding yourself with more “free” time than ever, but somehow feel a complete lack of motivation, direction, or hope for the future. You were once defined by your work, family roles you played dutifully, lively social life, and your many accomplishments, but with that removed, now wonder what to do. Perhaps a physical disability or chronic pain is keeping you from enjoying even the most basic parts of your day.
If the transition from independence to achy bones has left you feeling sad, panicked, anxious, or exhausted — you are not alone, and you don’t have to accept these feelings as “just another part of getting older.” With the right tools, you can actually feel more purpose, peace, and joy than ever.
I have over 20 years of experience supporting seniors as they transition into various phases of their lives. Together, we’ll establish goals for this new phase of your life, and help you accomplish them with courage and excitement.
Areas I specialize in:
Caretaking
Retirement
Ageism
Physical Limitations
Grandparenting
Widowhood

Getting older doesn’t have to mean losing your zest for life.

Frequently Asked Questions
+ What are therapy sessions like?
During our first session, I will complete an initial assessment that helps us understand your support system, strengths, and weaknesses. We will start off meeting weekly for 53+ minute sessions. From there, we’ll develop a custom treatment plan: a week-by-week set of goals, resources, and milestones to help you start living the life you want. We’ll use this plan to direct our sessions together to ensure we make the progress you’re looking for.
+ How long do I need to be in therapy?
My goal is for you to eventually feel totally empowered on your own -- not reliant on me! I aim for you to begin seeing progress after your very first session. Usually, I work with clients on a weekly basis as determined through our sessions . From there, we often move to biweekly or monthly sessions until you are comfortable and your goals have been met. Eventually, we’ll move to just having “check-ins” whenever needed.
+ I’ve never been to therapy before. How do I know if it will work for me?
It’s normal to have thought about therapy for a long time but never taken the “leap.” But if you’ve found yourself here, it’s because you know you could use some support, right? It’s not necessary to have had a massive life event or trauma to benefit from therapy; in fact, many of my clients who have benefited the most have been those who just knew there had to be “something more” in life, but didn’t know how to get there.
If you’re still not sure, that’s okay. Schedule a free consultation with me, and if therapy isn’t the best route for you, I can give you some resources or suggestions to look into instead.
